Poison at the American Museum of Natural History

Today we head to the American Museum of Natural History, a quick subway ride uptown. Here's the Bear at the African Mammals exhibit.

The Bear gets to meet black rhinos and white rhinos.

He also meets Bambi. Or to be more specific, a koodoo. Daddy is not a big fan of Disney nor its characters; he thinks they stereotype females and males in their characters (but that is a whole different blog entry all together).

Ooh - what exhibit is next?

Mr. Bear points and says, "Rat!" Isn't it great how the museum is so thorough in its coverage?

On to Mr. Bear's favorite animal. Monos!

The next exhibit makes the Bear a little worried.

Oh what big teeth you have! Did you know that you can tell the difference between an alligator and a crocodile by the width of their mouth? Alligators have wider mouths (and even carry their young inside) while crocodiles have narrower mouths. See - even Mommy is learning something!

So what if this crocodile is 15 feet long? The Bear can still show off his pearly whites too.

The Bear isn't quite fond of the komodo dragon.

The Poison exhibit is the main attraction for us - we get to learn about poison actually helping us (for example in fighting diabetes), how the Mad Hatter character in Alice in Wonderland came from hatters becoming mad due to mercury poisoning during the hat making process, and how characters like Snow White and Romeo (from Romeo & Juliet) used poisons that made it look like they were sleeping yet they were still alive.

Here is the Bear organizing the chairs at one the exhibit's interactive game stations.

The Bear borrows Daddy's hat to add some style to his outfit.

He then visits the lemurs to show off his new look.

Admiring the origami Christmas tree - still in the holiday spirit!

The tree is covered in origami animals. The Bear spots giraffes.

We had a whale of a time :)
