Why Have Chocolate When You Can Have Strawberries?: Happy Halloween!

What is an organic vegetarian toddler to do when surrounded by Halloween chocolate, gum, and cavity-friendly temptations? Mommy thinks the answer is obvious - hunt and gather treats for Mommy to enjoy :)

I asked Alex, "Looking back at the last 19 months, what is the worst/least healthy food we've ever given Bryson?" Alex looked stupefied (a rare look for this guy - let me tell you). Finally, he answered, "Cheerios?" I laughed and then paused, yep, he was not exaggerating. Daddy is a strict one...

So empty handed of gummy bears and Kisses, here we are:

Bryson and Daddy enjoy listening to the kids band (NYU was having a kids carnival complete with carousel, giant slide, bouncy castle, and face painting).

Instead of where's Waldo? This should be where's the candy?!

One kid is wearing a completely hand-created costume. The other is sporting one that Mommy got free at some hand me down Chelsea gathering.

My two boys. A pic that makes me go - awwww.

But Mommy likes this one more!

Lego My Eggo: No More Fever

Bryson spent the day home today after having a temperature. This is a text I got from the babysitter.

Mrs. Wolf,
Bryson's temp at 10 was 98F. He had grapes. He is playing. He is very, very friendly. He brought me a lot of books to read.

He looks back to his normal self based on his Lego action - always a reliable test :)

Pooh Bear Goes Grocery Shopping

Pooh Bear and Daddy.

Pooh Bear does his impression of Doctor Evil.

Pooh Bear gets some weekend grocery shopping done.

Pooh Bear gets sloppy after swigging some milk.

Pooh Bear greets each bicycle and waves goodbye. To each one.

Daddy catches a Big One.

At the Harvest Festival at the Highline.

Jam session with Daddy on guitar and Bryson on bongos.

Bryson on bongos pioneering new chopstick techniques.

Post jam session, what should we do to relax and chill? Sit on my puppy. Clearly.

Whew! Big pre-Halloween weekend bash!

Winnie the Pooh Unloads the Dishwasher!

A Halloween treat from Nana and Aunt Corey!

On our way to the Hudson River, stopping by the puppies and meowing. When Bryson meows, he scrunches up his face like a prune.

Bryson points out an airplane for Daddy.

Transformed into Winnie the Pooh. Perfect for his nickname Pooh Bear. Here Daddy and Bryson count the helicopters flying above the Hudson River.

Pooh waves at the dachsunds (brings back memories - my brother and I had three dachsunds growing up - Sandy, Pepper, and Rusty - and I loved to do long runs with them).

Doing an Eeyore impersonation.

We finally make it to the Karnival!

And guess what Pooh does...

Mommy and Daddy enjoy the kids improv show - love when kids stuff works for adults too.

Pooh wakes up and goggles over the Karnival convoluted mirrors.

At the Tribeca Halloween Parade with the Gay and Lesbian Marching Band. One of the many reasons I love living in NYC.

Pooh is also quite skilled at unloading the dishwasher - here he is showing off his skills.

Pooh also enjoys sucking on pieces as he unloads.

Out of costume, Bryson shows his drinking skills - he can drink from a cup. Thank Daddy for all that practice in the tub practicing with bath water :)
