Akron Zoo: Dancing with the Otters

This morning, Nana asked the Bear, “What do you want for breakfast?”

Dangerous question, now that the Bear has been exposed to all of the gourmet, home-cooked meals that Nana is famous for. The Bear responded, “Waffles!”

After our delicious waffle breakfast, we tried for some “howdy doody time” (aka potty time) where the Bear proudly displayed his peeing skills. We haven’t quite made it to #2 in the potty, but Aunt Corey has reassured Mommy that this is stage 2 kind of stuff.

After breakfast, we watched Ralphie and Max battle it out in the front yard.

We then headed to the Akron Zoo. On the way, Mr. Bear has become quite the backseat driver and told Daddy when to go and when to stop and also not to drive too fast. (By the way, the Bear has also become quite the Supervisor. Last night, during bedtime, he told (commanded?) Daddy to park (yes park!) his fire truck next to the fire place. As Daddy ran downstairs and parked the truck, he then heard the Bear say, “That’s right Daddy.” And there on the second floor banister rail looking down was Supervisor Bear ensuring that Daddy followed directions. Watch out Daddy – the Bear’s eyes are on you!)

At the zoo, Mommy was impressed by the depth of animals (red panda, lemurs, grizzlies, snow leapors) and how up close and personal our encounters were. And how the animals actually moved (vs. sitting cornered in a spot near the back where Mommy can never see them). In fact, the lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) were up close. Plus we had our own private otter show dancing and all. Later when we came back to the otters, the otters even got up close to the windows and greeted the Bear (I kid you not!)
