Civil War (aka Toddler Years)

In our own version of March Madness, the Bear has his own version of Monday madness tonight. It all starts with our standard Monday night trip to the library. The Bear and I read over a dozen books together including...

A book about trucks.
A book about animal masks.

A book about the zoo (he opens a basket with a cobra - fun memories of India there).

A book about safari animals. Here's the Bear doing his mono impression.

Even a book about Bethlehem and Jesus. (The library also have Kwanza and Jewish books too and we just happen to grab this book.)

We even do an active "break" and the Bear stacks the stools and then brings them each back to the table. It reminds me of my childhood and how I loved to move my playroom furniture. Picture a seven year old creating a floor plan with crayon in a spiral notebook, pushing bookcases, and reorganizing all the books and toys on it. For fun. Weird!

But then playtime takes a turn as the Bear selects this book.

Soon after, the Bear insists on pushing the stroller himself and yelling "Bryson!" when Mommy tries to help steer. The Bear then refuses to wear a jacket outside. I decide to wait it out. A full 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the Bear pushes the stroller back and forth.

He then squirms in a corner.

He then notices where the exit is and waits patiently right by the exit so that he can be ready when the next person leaves. Apparently, he realizes that he must take matters into his own hands since Mommy isn't helping him here.

Mommy realizes that we are now in a gridlock and her wait and see tactic isn't working. So now for the just-get-the-jacket-on tactic. Which works and gets the jacket on. Except Mommy's shortcut to wear just one jacket backfires and the Bear surprises her by wanting both jackets on.

Hence why the Bear has his inner green jacket on top of his outside blue jacket.

Even with all that, the Bear is still so cute.

He makes it up to Mommy by loading the laundry. The clothes are all piled up and without Mommy asking, the Bear puts them all in the washer and closes the door.
