Veggies in the Rain, Haircut

Rain all day? Mommy's response... When we have lemons, let's make lemonade. Corny, corny Mommy. And with that kick-off, here are Mommy's masterpieces. Or more honestly, attempts...

Mommy is trying to capture the rain beating gently on fresh fruit. Given that the Bear just finished the strawberries, she sorts through Daddy's fridge to scavenge up the tray below.

Rain #1

Rain #2 - (Number one and two are taken on the "balcony" or more specifically, the fire escape. This is as "nature like as things come in Manhattan)

Rain #3 - Mommy gives up and heads downstairs to see if she can get better shots without the jail-like look of the bars behind the veggies.

Rain #4 - She realizes it is too dark and goes back to the balcony/fire escape. Notice that all four pics don't really capture the rain, though Mommy tries her best.

Now for the instructor's piece that inspired Mommy to attempt this. He shares his secret that he is actually using a sprinkler, not actual rain. When he describes it, he makes it seems so easy that Mommy thinks she might have a shot. Better luck next time Mommy!

Unwilling to give out, Mommy attempts to capture flowers in the rain. In this case, she is not in her apartment shooting at some veggies on the fire escape. She is actually outside in the rain getting sopping wet. But in her mind it is worth it because she is going to get a good shot. Silly Mommy.

Rain #5 - Clearly not capturing any rain here - though Mommy's hair and clothes beg to differ.

Mommy deliberately put the instructor's photos after hers. That way, her photos don't seem as disappointing... Or something like that.

Mommy puts her camera to good use during the Bear's haircut. This is his third in his lifetime. Below is Gina blowing him bubbles. This is why we pay the big bucks.

Happy Bear with his bubbles.

Doodle Doo's is not just a salon for kids but also a toy store.

Mommy knows that they are trying to make money by having parents see their kids blissful surrounded by toys.

Mr. Bear is trying to decide between the boat or car or taxi.

Bubble magic.

The Bear decides on the taxi. Which according to Gina is their most popular "seat."

Checking out his ride.

Mr. Bear actually steers the whole time he is getting a cut.

Last time we came, the Bear freaked out getting his hair wet. Gina is a pro, and she talks to the Bear while she squirts her hand which she rubs into the Bear's hair. Veteran move, in Mommy's opinion.

Mr. Bear gets to watch a train show. In TV heaven.

Mommy considers having the Bear watch TV more often. He is quite calm and happy. Mommy also considers getting the bubble blower. She falls for that one and actually walks out with one.

The Bear and Mommy head to the biblioteca.

The Bear picks a book about bears.

Later we read about sharks. If the Bear ever gets a tattoo, this one would work.

Learning about lizards.

More Bears.

Sea life.

Mr. Bear gets a magazine and puts it back. On his way back, the leaflet falls out and he is distraught. He heads to Mommy and tells her, "Back." Mommy guides him to put it back inside any page, but the Bear insists that it has to go back in the exact page he found it. Mommy can't remember where, but somehow the Bear finds it.

After putting back the leaflet, the Bear carefully returns the magazine to its home in the rack.

All without prompting.

Then it's independent reading time. Mommy's favorite!

Mommy and the Bear take a tour of the books on top of the shelves to decide which one to read next.

Mr. Bear then decides to go on the computer.

Good thing he doesn't have a log-in.

Practicing colors in Spanish.

More independent reading.

Lola is getting new shoes for the Bear. Here is Mommy trying to demo for the Bear. Her plan actually works and the Bear wants to have his foot drawn too. Relief!
