Swim Class

Cherry blossom season, and Mr. Bear has no problem climbing the rainbow bars.

Determine Chipmunk face.

A new part of the playground. The Bear is very proud to climb the ladder.

This part of the playground has a number chart. The Bear counts in Spanish and Chinese.

Today we head off to see a Bedtime show.

The show is called Bedtime.

Katarsis, EducaciĆ³n y Teatro S.L. (Spain)
Getting the kids to sleep is always a production. But rarely is it one as warm, whimsical, and imaginative as Bedtime, created especially for early childhood audiences by Spain’s renowned children’s education company Katarsis. Pillows become wings, sheets become flags, and even towels join the fun as two rambunctious friends wordlessly discover infinite ways to keep themselves (and their audience) awake, engaged, and utterly delighted.

Mr. Bear was a bit skeptical in the beginning and told us, "Outside!" But the show soon captivated him and his was laughing and singing along.

Only Brooklyn art could make pimple look cool.

Saying bye to BAM. Dadddy reminds me that this is where we/he saw Paul Simon, Phil Lesh, and Neutral Milk Hotel.

Mommy has always vowed to Daddy that she will never be the mini-van driving mom who carts her kid all over town for classes. So imagine Daddy's surprise when she signs the Bear up for swim class.

The Bear again skeptical.

The instructor, Sam, teaches the dozen or some adult/baby pairs how to enter/exit the water safely, how to put the baby on the adult's knee so that they are comfortable, and float and kick on their back (as they lay nestled on their parent's chest). Here they are going around in a circle.

The kid behind him is freaking out, but the Bear is quite comfortable. Here he is waving.

Circle time. They play Hokey Pokey, putting their arms, legs, whole body in the water.

This is Humpty Dumpty. When they come to fall, the kid is supposed to jump off the wall. Mommy tries to ignore what happens after Humpty falls.

Not posed - Mommy promises.

Mr. Bear is already solid with the exercise of "Flying!"

This is Sam who calls Mommy (and the other moms with cameras) the paparazzi. He is probably right. I take a picture of everything the Bear does. Yes, one of those Moms - eek.
