Uncle Rob arrived midnight on Thursday (after already
grabbing a slice of NYC pizza). I suggested he go right to bed since he would
likely get a wake up call at 7am. The Bear delivered as usual – this time
sirening at 6:30am to a very delighted (or maybe not so delighted due to it
being 3:30am his time) Uncle Rob. They spent the day at the waterside water park,
then Washington Square Park, then we met at Café Clover, and finished up at the
Highline.
Saturday was more Highline, then walking down through
Chelsea, before having grilled cheese at home. While Mr. B (and Daddy!) napped,
Rob and I went to yoga and then got our bodies elbowed at the neighborhood
Chinese massage parlor. We then headed to Chinatown for some pork dumplings and
seafood pan fried noodles (Rob’s dish) and mushroom/bamboo and eggplant dishes
(our dish). Of course, the Bear had his standard 2 bowls of white rice – proof
that he is Asian.
While Daddy headed back via subway with the Bear, Rob and I
hoofed it back through Little Italy, then Soho, East Village, and Union Square.
We practiced taking photos during our journey. At one point, we stopped by a
bar and stood there for 5 minutes taking shots. A group of (drunk?) twenty year
olds then started posing for us and yelling, “Welcome to America!” Yikes – we have
become those tourists.
We then took some panning action shots and finished off with
some eerie church shots.
We got back to the house at almost 11 where the Bear was
finishing off with his last potty and good night kiss. Rob calculated that we
had walked 10 miles yesterday. Whew! And that doesn’t even count the couple
miles during my usual morning run.
