In Vegas, we actually stayed in a nice hotel – the Hard Rock
Café Hotel. There were costumes from Elton John, Johnny Cash, James Dean, etc.
Our hotel was a perfect NYC set-up complete with dice-like tile. We had dinner
at a Thai place recommended by our shuttle driver. At first, when we arrived,
we thought it was closed – beat-up signs and dark exterior. But luckily, we
drove to the backside of the strip mall and found an hour long wait. But worth
it! Our pad see-ew and green curry were the best we’d ever had. Apparently this
hole in the joint has a chef who is a James Beard 2014 winner and the best chef
in the southwest US. It is also the best Thai restaurant in the country.
Overall, an intense and adventurous vacation – I was
definitely checked out from the real world given how tough it was but it was
also nice to have lots of quality hours to spend with Alex. Thanks to Lola for
taking care of Bryson to allow us this time.
