Visiting the Berghoffs in Long Island

After dropping off Uncle Rob at JFK, we headed to Long Island to visit the Berghoffs (Justin, Bethany, Sutton, and Greta). Sutton is one week older than Bryson and had a blast showing off her basement full of toys (complete with a caterpillar crawl through space, tent, and kitchen). She also showed off her room (with a pink castle) and the Bear and she jumped on her bed. They then played in the Berghoffs garden (they had their own tricycle, car, wagon, and swing set). Afterwards, we headed to the marina to the Purple Elephant for some dinner (enchiladas, jackfruit, and grilled cheese).

Minnewaska Hike

We spent the morning at Minnewaska State Park for a quick hour long hike before packing up and heading from New Paltz back to NYC to drop Rob off at the airport.

First Day of Rock Climbing for the Bear

We took Rob to Peter’s Kill for some rock climbing. Poor Mr. Bear had been pouty, but we realized later that he was hungry – despite eating a full breakfast an hour before. Mr. Bear insisted that he would go rock climbing, “Tomorrow!” but surprised us by wanting to go that day. After Uncle Rob went for a climb, the Bear went for his first rock climb 20 feet in the air (with a little support from Uncle Rob). To get him down, he had his first free rappel.

Afterwards, we had a Ruben lunch, the Bear and I took a nap while Rob took photos with his long lens and Alex headed to Michael’s for some framing work. We then had a Jamaican dinner (Mr. Bear had some “dumplings” – though they were more donuts, Rob had goat curry, Alex had curry tofu, and I had a ridiculously hot jerk tofu). Then we finished off with a bonfire before the Bear went to sleep at a very late midnight.
