Day 2: Fly from Winnipeg to Churchill, photography talk
Natural Habitat has their own charter plane, so we’re able to go straight from the bus to the plane – no security needed. How refreshing after so many flights through Newark, JFK, and LaGuardia. On the plane, there’s homemade cookies, more snacks, and candy. They even have their own version of a “red carpet” – with their Natural Habitat logo at the bottom of the stairs. Fancy!
After our 2.5 hour flight, we land in Churchill where we head to our hotel and transition from Fort Garry Hotel luxury to Motel 6. It’s lunch, a tour of the community recreation center (which houses a library, pool, bowling alley, hockey rink, hurling arena, playground, school, gym, and workout area), a visit to the Inuit Museum (we see a skeleton of a narwhal with not one but two long horns), post office visit for stamps from Churchill, and then dinner.
