Dear Friends and Family,
Happy Holidays! Hope that you had a wonderful year! Thank you so much for being a part of our lives – we are grateful for your support and friendship.
We're excited to share our holiday card and a 3-minute holiday video.
For us, 2016 was an adventure of a year. Our biggest highlight was welcoming Scarlet into the world. Scarlet surprised us as a Valentine’s Day gift by being born a month early, and we barely made it to the hospital (more here). Even so, we thought it would be a good idea to take Scarlet (at 8 weeks) to Jazz Fest where we got slammed by a torrential downpour (more here) but still managed to see some great music. Thankfully, we’ve got Bryson (now 4 years) watching over his little sister. At the airport on the way to Hawaii, Analiza forgot Scarlet (just for a minute!), and Bryson saved the day by reminding Mommy about his little sister (more here). Bryson has also been showing Scarlet the ropes – like how to party on a 3-night Phish run (more here from my brother’s blog) and what to do when there’s a bear in our backyard (video here).
While it’s been many months since Analiza has run a mile, Alex continues to tick off climbs on his Bucket List, including some in the White Mountains, Yosemite, and Joshua Tree. Analiza is baffled at Alex’s idea of “fun” – this year for his big Four-Oh! Alex woke up at 4AM and executed his own Sufferfest of 6 rock climbs over 12 miles carrying a very heavy backpack (more here). Analiza was grateful to get some time away in Israel on a leadership trip (more here) and in the Galapagos with her brother Rob diving with hammerheads (video here and more here). Alex celebrated his mom’s birthday with a mother-son hike to Machu Picchu (more here).
On the professional side, Alex will be celebrating his tenth year in Treasury at Goldman Sachs in early 2017. For Analiza, after four very fulfilling years at Achievement First, she will be starting a new role at East Harlem Tutorial Program, a charter management organization and after school program that is going through a rapid expansion. EHTP believes in strong community partnerships and developing the whole child, including their social-emotional skills. Analiza is very excited to be leading their talent work.
While there is much to be grateful for this year, we remain saddened by the passing of Alex’s sister, Corey. She served in the Marines and spent many years providing direct therapy and hands-on care to autistic children. She will always be in our hearts.
Wishing you a holiday and new year full of love,
Analiza, Alex, Bryson & Scarlet
