Sufferfest 40!

To celebrate his 40th birthday, Alex created and executed his own Sufferfest - a full day long 15 mile loop of 7 rock climbs with 1-3 miles in between. We arrived in New Paltz the night before his birthday at 10:30pm, he stayed up until 1:30am doing work, he woke up at 4:15am to head out for his trip, and then he climbed and ran all day (with a 50 lb backpack) finishing at 8pm. What a "fun" birthday!

Here is the itin he emailed me (time stamp at 12:55am):
Park at west trapps and head down shongum trail Lost city- a chimney at top of middle trail Dicker Barre- fine pine line Peters kill- tbd 5.7 at the left end
Millbrook- Westward ha!  backup is Air for a G String
Nears- outsiders (both pitches)

Trapps- either V-3 or the 5.7 left of Shockley's Back to car

Here are some texts I got during the day.

10:52am - At Millbrook getting set up to rap in for Westward Ha!
Ok... At the base. 150 ft of glorious 5.7 corner and crack climbing. Here goes!

1:12pm -  And Westward Ha! goes down!

On to the Nears.

2:13pm - Racked up and ready to get on outsider in the nears.

4:26pm - The nears are done! Last one coming up!!

5:40pm - At V-3, last one!

7:03pm - Off belay!! Packing up and coming home!

And to add to the Sufferfest, Alex only had three water bottles for the entire day. And dehydration meant he wasn't hungry, so he didn't eat much either. Fun stuff!
