Date Night - Hack the Met

Alex is pretty good with planning surprise date nights (Godfather accompanied to a symphony was the latest), so I was pretty proud to plan an "underground" (read: raunchy) tour of the Met.

We learned about Hatshepsut, a famous female pharoah who ruled during Egypt's golden age (1479-1458), who ruled as a man. And about her not so secret trysts with her servant. We also saw some graffiti on a pyramid made by an American who later became the CEO of an organization with its mission of preserving world relics. We then went to see old music instruments and in the India room were greeted by Priya, who sang and played melodies in different times (4 and 6 beats).

We also learned about a Picasso painting that a visitor tripped and put an elbow in - and surprising the value rose to over the original 130 million because it got so much media.

There was also an awesome tour of the not so popular American exhibit set to music.

And the tooth of the lady of Medjugore plus the beaten brass depicting a wife beating her husband :)

We then tried to be sleuths and get past the 9pm curfew but eventually got yelled out by the Met staff.

Ah - the experience of a Hack the Met tour!
