Bryson Hunter News: Chess, Top Trumps, Field Trips

Bryson got a nice shout out for his chess wins at Nationals. See below for an email blast to the NYC chess community.

Getting Ready for Summer Chess!

Congratulations to all the competitors who played in our Hunter Chess Tournaments this year and especially to those who went on to compete at Nationals this spring. The biggest of these tournaments is always the Elementary Championship and this year was no exception as the nation's best and brightest congregated in Nashville. A special shout goes out to Speyer School for winning the K-6 Team Championship; Dalton, who came 2nd in the K-5 Team Championship; Lower Lab, Speyer, Dalton, Columbia Grammar and Collegiate who took 1st through 5th in the K-3 Championship. Of course, Sunil was especially proud of his K-1 team from Hunter which won the National Championship. They were led by Bryson Wolf who scored 6 out of 7! The team had great coaches including FM Sunil Weeramantry, GM-elect Farai Madizha. GM Mark Paragua, FM Ramon Lorente-Pupo, and NM William Graif. (You can see pictures on the NSCF Facebook page.)

Other fun news from Hunter...

Bryson's class won the Reading Tree Challenge and a pizza party. Over the month of May, Bryson read over 70 books!

Bryson and his class did a museum style presentation of their Chinese projects. Bryson read 7 Chinese Brothers and created his version of the game Top Trumps.

Bryson and I built a kite together - a little too heavy, oops!

Wacky Wednesday dress-up day. Bryson isn't the wacky type and chose to wear his basic t-shirt and jeans that day.

Bryson has been fortunate to be able to go to lots of field trips, including the botanical garden, NY main public library on 5th Ave, Liberty Science Center, Central Park, the Natural History Museum, and lots more. Here are some photos from a few of those trips.
