Dear Friends,
23 East 10th
St Apt 227 NY NY 10003
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for being a part of our lives – we
are grateful for your support and friendship.
For us, 2017 has been a mix of adventure and reflection. With
Bryson now 5 and Scarlet 1.5, we are
continuing to try to bring them on our adventures - with sometimes mixed results! We brought them
on a family houseboat trip on the Amazon where they came face to face with
a bird eating spider (yes, they actually eat birds),
a 3-toed sloth, pink dolphins, caimans, and a tapir. (more here)
Bryson is quite the Daddy’s boy (clone?) – he loves going to see Phish (Alex went to seven Phish Madison Square Garden
shows this year here), favorite movie is
Star Wars (we took Bryson to a 3-night stint at the Lincoln Center here), and favorite sports
are skiing (a Star Wars ski competition here) and rock climbing (here). He also got
into Hunter College
Elementary School where
he will be through high school – hooray, no more crazy NYC admissions to
worry about. (If only they had a sibling policy!)
Analiza is hoping Scarlet will be like Mommy – a tomboy. Scarlet
thinks she can rock climb and bike – just like her brother (antics here). Scarlet also went on her first overnight camping trip in the
Catskills, a 4-day canoe adventure in the Adirondacks (here), and a beach week at
Nags Head in North Carolina (here).
Alex and Analiza have been fortunate to take a few adventure
trips on their own. They headed to the San Juan islands to kayak with orcas (here), to Joshua Tree, Red
Rocks, and Death Valley for rock climbing (check
out how Analiza’s shoe fell apart the last hour of our 3-day adventure here), to the Catskills for ice climbing (here), and to the White Mountains for rock climbing for Alex’s
birthday (here),
Alex has done a few solo trips, starting the year with a winter
climbing trip to Katahdin in Maine (more here). He also had a
six-week long “garden leave” while in between jobs (more on that below) which
allowed him to do a three week climbing and canyoneering trip including stops in
Joshua Tree, Zion, Moab and Red Rocks (more here).
Analiza is about to hit the big Four-Oh (My Gosh!) and has been
doing lots of reflecting. She recently signed up to do a 10-day silent
meditation in Monterrey, Mexico over the holiday break.
On the professional side, after a decade at Goldman, Alex is now
at Bank of America helping lead their liquidity team. Analiza is leading talent
for East
Harlem Tutorial Program, a non-profit that includes after school/summer/college access
programs, charter schools, and a teaching residency. She’s also fortunate to be
part of the Pahara NextGen Fellowship.
Wishing you a holiday and new year full of love and adventure,
Analiza, Alex, Bryson & Scarlet
