Both of the kids are in Mensa. I’m kind of curious whether I could qualify to get in. But I’m too afraid of what my test scores would be. Anyway, I’m all about EQ. It’s EQ over IQ, right?
Right :)
But I digress.
I took Scarlet to a Mensa youth trip to the Intrepid. The
tour guide was a military veteran who asked the kids, “What kind of ship is
this?” The boys and Scarlet (yes, all boys but Scarlet – but that girl does not
care, she can take on all of them) raised their hands. First boy, “A steamboat!”
The guide, “Um, no… there’s no steam here.” Second boy, “Missile launcher!” The
guide, “Um, no…” Third boy, “Submarine!” The guide, “Are you sure this is Mensa?
I mean, take a look around at the aircraft.” Now let me pause here to say, have
you noticed that all the people the guide called on were boys? Hmm?
But I digress again.
Here’s the fun part, Scarlet raises her hand,
“Aircraft carrier. Though there’s a space shuttle here too.”
Ding, ding! Yeah, she’s real Mensa, buddy.
